Consultation
A consultation on the implementation of EU Regulation 165/2014, which specifies a new generation of tachograph units that must be fitted to newly registered vehicles starting approximately 2019, has been published by the Department for Transportation.
There are a few areas where member states can implement the new rules with some latitude because the law is a regulation rather than a directive, and the DfT has stated its intention not to amend many of them. In March and April 2015, FTA Freight Councils discussed the consultation.
