• Load Security and Responsibilities – Legal requirements and best practices for securing loads on HGVs. Focuses on the driver’s duty to prevent load-related incidents, correct loading techniques, and understanding the implications of non-compliance. (Geared towards Lorry Driver CPC Training.)

• Vehicle Walkaround Checks – Step-by-step guidance on conducting complete pre-journey inspections of HGVs, buses, and coaches. Covers identifying potential defects and ensuring all vehicle systems are functioning correctly. Encourages group participation and practical engagement.

• Reporting Defects – Procedures for identifying, recording, and reporting vehicle defects. Highlights the importance of prompt communication, proper documentation, and following company reporting systems to maintain legal and safety compliance.

• Workplace Safety for HGV & PCV Drivers – Identifying common workplace dangers and promoting safe working practices. Topics include:

  • Manual Handling – Safe techniques to prevent strain and injury.

  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – Correct use and maintenance for personal safety.

  • Risk Awareness – Understanding and mitigating hazards within depots, loading bays, and roadside environments.
