Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 replaced Council Regulation (EC) No 3820/85 as the current regulations governing drivers’ hours of service on April 11, 2007. Despite some of the rules being the same or very comparable, certain modifications were made. The following tables are intended to provide a quick rundown.
Either a digital or analogue tachograph may be installed in a vehicle that was first registered before May 1, 2006. Only a digital tachograph is permitted to be installed on vehicles that were originally registered on or after May 1, 2006. Drivers of passenger vehicles must maintain an extract of the duty roster and service timetable between April 11, 2007, and the day a tachograph is installed, whereas drivers of freight vehicles must maintain manual records.
